4.20 Smoke out Flash Mob (anti-weedpass protest)

The fourth of April (4/20) at 4.20 pm a protest against the weedpass took place in Amsterdam.

At a location unknown till one hour in advance, smokers of the Netherlands and all around the world gathered. Here at 4.20pm everybody would light joints all at the same time, to protest against the weedpass which will need registration and only allows Dutch citizen to buy weed in the coffeeshops. This is the latest incentive in numerous efforts to criminalize and complicate the use of marihuana.

The official reason of the government is stopping drugstourism and its related nuisance, however  smokers are just pushed more and more in a corner. Now with the registration people who wish to use anonymous would have to find their marihuana elsewhere. Not even to speak about the hundred thousands of tourists who will have to find different ways to get their smoke. Through these efforts the tolerant drug policy of the Netherlands becomes history.

The demonstration happened at the citycouncil. Impatient to wait, most stoners already lighted their joints before 4.20pm. Still the amount of smoke was impressive. A couple of hundred people attented, listened to the music and speeches or just had a good time hanging out.
